Lately, I’ve become obsessed with the Epstein files. I’ve gone down the proverbial Rabbit Hole, and I’m not really proud to admit it. I’m not sure why I’ve become obsessed with performing this amateur sleuth work, but here I am. The search engines will only give me what it is programed to give, no matter how much I will it to spill the whole truth. The answers will be revealed in black and white when the time is ready. If only we could scratch below that black surface like we do a scratch ticket…
Scrolling around takes up a lot of precious time whether it be the files or any other mystery we are curious about. I can justify some of this when I look out the window to see the cold and snowy landscape. Yet another winter blast of cold and sleet makes outdoor time difficult. Walking on icy paths is treacherous, and the garden is buried so deep even the hellebores have taken cover. They will pop up their flowery heads when the time is ready. Which isn’t today, so meanwhile…
It is not healthy for the body to be so idle. The body needs some helpful exercise to thrive, but I fear it is much worse for the mind. My time could be better spent reading something spiritual to lift the spirits in these times. I crave some guidance, but not by the likes of Deepak Chopra. Ouch. That one hurt. Our trust system is shaken as it turns out the world that we thought we knew never really existed.
Merriam-Webster describes a rabbit hole as “a completely bizarre or difficult state or situation conceived of as a hole into which one falls or descends.” Somewhere in my heaping piles of books is a copy of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. I think it might be time to dust it off and go down a different sort of rabbit hole. The one where a young child named Alice found herself in a strange and bizarre world, and it seemed she was the only one who realized the truth. Maybe … I’ll find it really isn’t that different after all.
