The Color of White

February 10, 2026

The color of white is all around

It is in the trees and on the ground

It swirls and dances in the afternoon sky

Lands on the face and stings the eye

It falls with a soft light touch at first

Then comes on with a fury and burst

It covers the sidewalk and buries the garden path

Not with a light touch but rather with wrath

Six more weeks of chill the ground hog states

I’m hoping it had a mix-up of the dates

Salt and slush and mounds of dirty snow

Sorry winter, you have lost your glow

They say white symbolizes purity and peace

But my only hope is that it will come to a cease

I’m tired of cold wet puddles on the floor

It is time to fling winter right out the door
